Hoodied Gaga

Hoodied Gaga

We’ve all heard of her, most of us have heard her music, and many of us have also seen the crazy outfits she walks around in, but what is the true story behind Lady Gaga’s runway-style getups? Why so outrageous? Where does it come from? Well, it’s true that Lady Gaga does have interesting choices in attire, but she has been seen in relatively normal clothes as well…relative to what we normally see her in. Among her usual customized clothes, she has her own style of custom hoodies that range from the likes of an Indian head dress to a scantily clad Red Riding Hood. Like I said, relative to what she usually wears, this seems tame. But again I ask, where do all this nutty designs come from?

In an interview with Ellen Degeneres, Lady Gaga commented on these fashion choices and relayed that it’s not part of an image or character that she is trying to create, but rather that it is just the way she likes to dress and that she dresses like that all the time. In fact, she has worn pieces from fashion gurus from all over the world whose works might otherwise have stayed on the runway. Even as a girl, she recounts being laughed at and feeling out of place for the way she dressed and acted. Although, there is no doubt her outfits back then could beat out how outrageous her wardrobe has become.

As an impressionable youth, we all struggle to find the ideal means of expression, and for Lady Gaga, that was, and continues to be, her attire. Although it’s true she does express herself through song and dance, the way she dresses speaks to a different audience who might otherwise look at her as an object rather than a person with thoughts and ideas. It shows true initiative and innovation to create such a widely accepted and recognized sense of fashion, particularly because the fashion is linked to only one person. It takes a special kind of person to take a custom hoodie and turn it into something recognized on a global basis.

And so, we salute you, Lady Gaga for your inspirational fashion sense, attractive uniqueness, and exciting persona. We shall continue to follow your journey through the world of weird fashions and although we laugh we are all truly jealous that you can pull off such clothes in public.

Celebrities in Custom SweatShirts

Celebrities in Custom Sweatshirts

A celebrity’s fashion sense is always being attacked, and it seems paparazzi can’t snap a picture of an artist, actor, or model without snagging some words about what they are wearing. Whether it is the “in thing,” a “plain Jane” thing, the next big thing or something completely out of the box, we are obsessed with what celebrities are wearing. Fortunately, we see enough of them in magazines and on TV to get an idea of what WE should be, or at least want to be, wearing. But celebrity fashion doesn’t always have to be glamorous or outrageous like a Madonna and Lady Gaga.

More often than not, we see the simpler side of celebrity fashion with getups from actors like Hayden Panettiere and Vanessa Hudgens, and artists like Katy Perry and Rihanna. Whether it is custom sweatshirts or Levi’s jeans, they exhibit a humanizing factor in celebrities by portraying themselves in everyday situations as everyday people. Perhaps it is just the mega celebrities that go all out and dress like a weirdo 24 hours a day like Lady Gaga, but still, the vast majority can be found in normal clothes like any of us. So, what is the big deal with celebrity fashion then?

Often times, the “fashion” we are talking about is the person’s dress attire. They have to keep up an image as a celebrity, and it could just be that we all want to create images for ourselves as celebrities. We associate the fancy close we see them dressed up in with the fame and the wealth, when in reality, they aren’t very different from your “dinner out” outfits and many of the outfits you see the celebrities wearing are borrowed or rented to promote the designer. When an artist is being interviewed and they start dropping names, we pick them up and the designer gets credit and recognition, so it is in the designer’s interest to lend to the big names like Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson.

No matter what the celebs are wearing, we should all be expressing ourselves everyday in what we wear. Whether it be expressing how cold we are feeling with custom sweatshirts and long pants, or how unique we are feeling with a gown made of Kermit the Frog dolls, we must not imitate but only become inspired by these brilliant stars and learn to shine on our own.

Screen Printing vs Direct to Garment Printing vs Digital Printing

Screen Printing vs Direct to Garment Printing vs Digital Printing

Customization of clothing comes in all different forms. Whether you are using screen printing, direct to garment printing or digital printing, you can be sure to have a thoroughly unique design and experience every time. Nothing promotes your business, sports team, or event better than a t-shirt with custom screen printing, and the best part is, you get to pick the material, so you will no doubt be comfortable. But there is some dispute as to which method of printing is best to use. In reality, each has its own advantages and disadvantages. It really just depends on the kind of design experience you are looking for.

Screen Printing is the traditional approach to customizing clothes and other materials. It offers a sharp-edge image often by way of a stencil. Originally used for artistic purposes, custom screen-printing is now one of the more inexpensive ways to transfer and image to a piece of clothing, at least when compared to direct to garment (DTG) and digital printing. But unfortunately, this method of printing falls short in the color variation and the vibrancies of those colors aren’t as crisp as they might for be DTG or digital printing. Still, it is the most hands on, quickest and traditional approach. So in regards to custom screen printing vs direct to garment or digital printing, it is really a matter of preference.

Specifically speaking in regards to just custom screen printing vs direct to garment, you’ll find that Direct to Garment printing is much slower, but cleaner. Custom screen-printing tends to create variations in graphics from print to print due to small imperfections in the method, but direct to garment printing smoothest it all out for a continuously clean look. But one of the biggest pitfalls of “DTG” printing is the simple fact that it is far more expensive than screen printing. This is not to mention that you can run more pieces in less time when working with the traditional screen printing method. But what about the final method: digital printing?

When discussing custom screen printing vs digital printing, you must keep in mind that “digital” indicates “newer”. The color variation of digital printing is the most wide spread and the exuberance of each is always brilliant. The color and detail created in digital printing is one of the biggest threats to traditional custom screen-printing. But there is still one outweighing factor that combats this aspect. While digital printing is certainly quicker than direct to garment printing, it can not beat out screen printing’s top spot. Additionally, you’ll find that digital prints will show more wear and tear than most other methods. Still, there is room for debate among printing experts.

Whether you are hoping for a business shirt, sports team printed ball cap, or just something you want to say on an article of clothing, you’re going to have to pick a method of printing. Although you may not do it yourself, it will still affect the cost you pay and quality of your print. They all have pros and cons, now it’s up to you to decide!

Trying to Stay Warm?!? http://ping.fm/jNtBf

Trying to Stay Warm?!?

Its getting colder and colder here in Eastern North Carolina! Prepare for those dropping temperatures with custom designed head wear. We carry fleece headbands that can be custom embroidered with your company's logo or mascot. Choosing a different color such as light pink or frost blue helps your logo stand out. If you would like to purchase an entire cap instead of a headband, you can choose between our knit cap or our beanie cap (called a toboggan here in NC). The major difference between the two is that the knit cap has a cuff for folding over while the beanie (toboggan) simply is worn pulled down over the ears with a contrasting trim. These various types of head wear make for great give-aways at company parties and fall get togethers. Once you have passed them out, you have great advertisement walking all over town. Call Bender Shirts today if you have any questions or use our instant quote system to find out approximately how much your custom design idea might cost.

Stay warm!!!
